In response to Katt Williams’ explosive appearance on Club Shay Shay, Kevin Hart didn’t hold back as he addressed the comedian’s comments on his NBA Unplugged show. Hart, alongside Kendrick Perkins, pondered the choice between “entertaining the circus or watching it” when discussing Williams’ interview. Playfully, Hart joked about Williams supposedly “buying the New York Knicks” only to “return them with a receipt.” Additionally, Hart took aim at Williams’ claims of being an avid reader during his childhood.
Hart initially responded to Williams’ interview with a tweet, simultaneously promoting his upcoming movie. “Gotta get that anger up outcha champ….It’s honestly sad. In the meantime…. Please enjoy MY MOVIE TRAILER to my next film ‘LIFT’ which will be dropping on @netflix in 8 days!!!!! There is a moment in the trailer where @gugumbatharaw says ‘They Really Love You’ ….I now know she’s talking about ‘Katt’ 😂😂😂 Mark yo calendars world!!!! This one is SPECIAL!!!!” Hart shared on X the day after the interview aired.
Gilbert Arenas joined the defense of Kevin Hart against Katt Williams’ accusations of being an industry plant. Arenas highlighted Hart’s ability to succeed in roles that Williams had turned down, emphasizing that it didn’t make Hart a plant but someone resourceful in seizing opportunities. Arenas questioned Williams’ motives in diminishing Hart’s career for accepting roles that Williams himself had rejected.
The sentiments expressed by Gilbert Arenas echoed Michael Blackson’s response to Williams’ Club Shay Shay interview. Blackson, recognizing Williams as an all-time great in comedy, criticized the inflammatory nature of the interview, suggesting Williams was attempting to stay relevant. Blackson emphasized that Williams should remember he is not the “Katt Williams of 2005.” As the feud unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Williams will respond to the growing backlash from his fellow comedians.
