Lugazi, a FUFA Big League side, has appointed the esteemed strategist Richard Makumbi as their new head coach.

The confirmation of Makumbi’s appointment came on Tuesday, November 14, with Lugazi expressing their delight in acquiring his services.

Makumbi steps into the role, taking over from Coach William Kyeswa, who was suspended a few weeks ago due to repeated cases of indiscipline. In Kyeswa’s absence, assistant coach Gerald Efiti has been serving as the interim head of the club.

Boasting over 30 years of coaching experience, Makumbi has a remarkable track record, having successfully guided more than ten teams to top-flight football both in Uganda and abroad. Notable promotions under his leadership include Vipers (Bunamwaya), BUL FC, Soana, Iganga Town Council, Fire Masters, Mbarara City, Buikwe Red Stars, SCOUL, Mukono Lions, and UTODA. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in securing Premier League qualification for Kenya’s Western Stima.

Now, Makumbi is set to channel his wealth of experience and expertise toward elevating the ambitious Lugazi team, currently holding the 6th position on the 15-team Big League table with 11 points from six games.
