After a recent performance in New Zealand, Ma$e, the 48-year-old rapper, surprised the audience with a heartfelt Christian prayer session. Departing from his usual musical style, the artist, who once stepped away from the industry to follow a religious calling, took to the stage to lead a prayer for the well-being of his fans.

As the outdoor crowd absorbed the post-concert atmosphere, Ma$e shared his hopes for a prosperous 2024 with the packed venue. “I’m praying that 2024 is the best year of your life,” he declared, encouraging the audience to join him in a Christian prayer. “Dear Lord, I believe you died on the cross for my sins, and I accept you as my Lord, as my savior. I’m healed, I’m delivered, I’m rich, all is well, nothing is broken and nothing is missing. All 2024.”

This spiritual moment marked a return to Ma$e’s religious roots, a journey that began with his retirement from music in 1999 after the release of his sophomore album, Double Up. Following a divorce in 2014, the rapper parted ways with the El Elyon International Church and re-embraced his initial calling.

Expressing gratitude for his blessings, Ma$e celebrated a successful year in 2023, not just in music but also in sports media. Acknowledged by figures like Jadakiss, who praised his work alongside Cam’ron as reporters, Ma$e continues to break barriers in the industry.

Jadakiss, speaking on 7PM In Brooklyn alongside Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero, highlighted the positive impact of rappers entering the sports media scene. “I think it’s vibrant for the culture to have some athletes taking sports and some rappers talking sports instead of just old white guys in suits,” he expressed. Proposing a metaphorical “gentrification” of sports media, Jadakiss suggested mixing up the industry with diverse voices, envisioning exchanges between well-known figures like Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, and Stephen A. Smith.
