President Yoweri Museveni is set to address the nation tomorrow in anticipation of the 38th National Liberation Day (NRM) anniversary, scheduled for Friday, January 26. The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) has announced that the President will deliver a virtual speech on Thursday at 8 PM.

“The PPU informs the public that on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 8 PM, His Excellency Gen. (Rtd). Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda, will deliver a message marking the NRM Liberation Day, celebrating 38 years since liberation,” the press statement reads.

The address will be broadcast on major TV and radio stations, as well as online platforms. Minister for Presidency, Ms Milly Babalanda, earlier stated that the President will be the chief guest at celebrations in St John SS Wakitaka, Jinja.

This year’s theme is “Building a country we shall all cherish,” with over 50 individuals, including former Kyabazinga of Busoga Henry Wako Muloki, set to receive medals for their contributions to the National Resistance Army (NRA) liberation struggle.

Similar to the past two post-COVID-19 celebrations, this event is open to the public, with only VIP tent guests needing proof of Covid-19 test results.
