This week, Safaree delighted fans by sharing an unexpected blast from the past – a throwback video of his old rap group Hoodstarz, which notably included none other than Nicki Minaj. The short clip showcased the early intensity and beginnings of both Safaree and Nicki Minaj, offering a nostalgic glimpse into their early careers. “We all had to start somewhere,” Safaree captioned the Instagram post.
Nicki Minaj, who has been making headlines recently with her latest album, Pink Friday 2, made a significant return after a five-year hiatus since 2018’s Queen. The album, featuring 22 tracks and lasting over 70 minutes, generated substantial buzz with hit singles and collaborations with artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, J. Cole, and Future. Notable tracks like “FTCU” and “Everybody” featuring Lil Uzi Vert have already amassed tens of millions of streams.
In recent events, Nicki Minaj faced controversy surrounding her hit song “Starships” when she refused to perform it during a New Year’s Eve show. Explaining her decision, she mentioned her personal dislike for the song, which didn’t resonate well with the audience. Despite the disagreement, the song’s producer expressed support for Nicki’s choices.
Nicki Minaj has also teased fans with a remix of “FTCU,” hinting at a collaboration with an undisclosed male rapper. Speculations point towards J. Cole, considering Nicki’s previous mention of his admiration for the song before the album’s release. The unexpected throwback video serves as a reminder of the artists’ humble beginnings and how far they’ve come in their respective careers.
