Teenage midfielder John Innocent Kisolo is one of the fast rising and new kids on the block currently in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

Kisolo who was acquired in the summer transfer window from St Henry’s College Kitovu after being spotted by our scouts during last year’s USSSA football games in Fort Portal City found it hard in the beginning to break into the team under then interim head coach Fred Muhumuza simply because he was at school most of the time, something the club prioritises alot.

After breaking off for school holidays, he returned to the club briefly before he earned his first national team call up with the U18 side that took part in the CECAFA U18 championship in Kenya were he was a key pillar in Morley Byekwaso’s team that won the title.

Upon return, new URA FC coach David Obua who closely followed the CECAFA U18 championship picked keen interest in him and it didn’t take alot of time to hand him his debut against Mbarara City FC, putting up a man of the match performance.

To him, it was a dream come true to make his league debut and credits the CECAFA U18 championship, teammates at the club and King David for his eye catching displays so far.

“I thank God that I am being considered to play because this is what I was praying for when I joined the team. Ofcourse it’s never easy playing in the top flight for the first time but I am grateful for the CECAFA U18 tournament which exposed me to pressure and when I came back at the club I was so much ready for anything.”

I pray to God to continue helping me so that I can be consistent with my performances to guide the team to silverware.”
