England captain Harry Kane continued his prolific goalscoring form, notching a brace against Heidenheim as Bayern Munich claimed the top spot in the Bundesliga. Kane’s two first-half goals elevated his season tally to an impressive 17.

Having recently achieved hat-tricks in two consecutive Bundesliga matches, Kane has now set a new league record for the most goals after 11 games. Surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s 2019 record of 16 goals in the same timeframe, Kane’s stellar performance has been a key factor in Bayern’s ascent to the league summit.

Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane played a crucial role, providing assists for both of Kane’s goals. The first goal saw Sane locate Kane inside the box, where the striker executed a spin and fired the ball into the top corner. The second goal came from a precise and towering header by Kane following Sane’s corner.

Despite Heidenheim mounting a comeback with two goals in three minutes from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste, Bayern quickly regained control. Substitute Raphael Guerreiro swiftly restored the lead in the 72nd minute, capitalizing on a rebound to slot the ball into an empty net.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, another substitute, sealed the victory for Bayern in the late stages of the game.

Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham in the summer, has already surpassed the goal tally of last season’s joint-top Bundesliga scorers, Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Fullkrug, both of whom finished with 16 goals. Remarkably, this marks the 10th consecutive season in which Kane has scored 20 or more club goals. His 17 goals in 11 Bundesliga games parallel Erling Haaland’s achievement for Manchester City at the same stage in the Premier League last season.
