Arsenal demonstrated resilience in a hard-fought encounter against Burnley, securing a crucial victory that propelled them level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City. The Gunners faced a disciplined Burnley side that proved challenging to break down in the first half.

The breakthrough for Arsenal came on the brink of half-time when Leandro Trossard courageously headed in a goal, marking the team’s 1,000th goal at the Emirates Stadium. Burnley responded with an equalizer, courtesy of Josh Brownhill’s deflected shot eight minutes into the second half. However, Arsenal quickly regained the lead as William Saliba headed in Trossard’s corner from close range.

Oleksandr Zinchenko added the finishing touch with an acrobatic goal after Dara O’Shea unintentionally steered another Trossard corner onto the crossbar. Despite finishing the game with 10 men due to Fabio Vieira’s red card, Arsenal comfortably held their ground against Burnley’s efforts.

Burnley, managed by Vincent Kompany, showcased defensive resilience in stifling Arsenal’s attacks during the first half. They managed to disrupt Arsenal’s rhythm and could have taken the lead themselves, with Zeki Amdouni’s long-range effort parried away and Johann Berg Gudmundsson denied by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Brownhill’s second-half equalizer provided a glimpse of Burnley’s fight, but Arsenal quickly regained control. Kompany will be disappointed with the defensive lapse that allowed Saliba to score virtually unmarked. Burnley’s struggles continue as they remain in the relegation zone, losing their sixth consecutive game.
