Parliament Directs Investigation into Allegations Surrounding Minister Otafiire’s Land Acquisition”
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has directed Prime Minister Robinnah Nabbanja to address concerns regarding Minister of Internal Affairs Kahinda Otafiire’s possession of land on the Njeru government farm in Mukono district. The directive follows Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda raising the issue in Parliament, expressing worry about alleged high-handedness and the arrest of the farm’s breastfeeding manager. Ssemuju called for action against those involved in selling the government farm to Mr. Otafiire. The Deputy Speaker instructed the Prime Minister to investigate the matter and report back to Parliament within two weeks, citing the prior findings of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee recommending repossession of the Njeru farm land and compensating Mr. Otafiire.
