To the NRM leadership, its sympathizers, and particularly to Ms. Nambi, the NRM candidate in the Kawempe North by-election, it is time to face the truth. The events in Kawempe North have exposed, yet again, the blatant manipulation and foul play that have become synonymous with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) under President Museveni’s rule. The government’s role in this debacle is undeniable, and it is high time Ugandans rise against this continued abuse of power.

Ms. Nambi, while you may have been a willing participant, it is clear that you were merely a conduit, a pawn in a larger game orchestrated by the NRM machinery. You were clothed in a riot, used as a clog to disrupt the democratic process, and unfairly thrust into a position where your actions—or lack thereof—have raised serious questions about your integrity and soundness of mind. The fact that you are now being tipped to have “gained more votes” after the final declaration of results is not only laughable but also a clear indication of the NRM’s desperation to cling to power by any means necessary.

Which algorithm is being used to continuously calculate votes? Which system allows for such blatant manipulation? The answer is simple: the Museveni system. A system where the rules are rewritten on the go, where the will of the people is subverted, and where the military machinery is always on standby to enforce the Old Man’s wishes.

The NRM’s games do not end in Kawempe North. The Museveni rubber-stamp parliament, under the so-called leadership of Speaker Anita Among, continues to play its part in this charade. How can we address Anita Among as Speaker of Parliament when her incompetence is glaring even to the blind? The intentional delay in swearing in Hon. Nalukoola Luyimbazi Elias is just another example of the NRM’s dirty tactics. It is a calculated move to sabotage and undermine the opposition, all under the direct orders of Mr. Museveni.

Let us not forget the role of Muhoozi and his JATT military machinery, always lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on any semblance of dissent. The NRM’s reliance on military intimidation to snatch victory from the hands of the people is a testament to their fear of a truly democratic process.

To the people of Uganda, I say this: Yes, victory was achieved in Kawempe North, but the battle is far from over. The NRM will stop at nothing to undermine your will. They will use every trick in the book—delayed swearings-in, manipulated vote counts, military intimidation—to maintain their grip on power. You must remain vigilant. You must continue to demand accountability and transparency.

The NRM’s time is up. The people of Uganda have spoken, and no amount of manipulation, intimidation, or foul play can change that. It is time for the NRM to step aside and let true democracy prevail.

Enough is enough.
