Cam’ron Reminds Fans of His Lyrical Mastery with Two-For-One Freestyle
Cam’ron, the Dipset co-founder who has recently gained attention for his sports show alongside Ma$e, proves he’s still a force to be reckoned with in the Hip Hop world. Despite his ventures beyond music, Cam’ron occasionally steps back into the spotlight to remind everyone of his lyrical prowess.
On Tuesday (February 13), Cam’ron took to the It Is What It Is podcast Instagram to showcase his skills in what he dubbed a “Two-For-One” freestyle. Over two different beats, he name-drops icons such as JAY-Z, Dr. Dre, and Usher, displaying his versatility and sharp wit.
In the first part of the freestyle, Cam’ron references O.J. Simpson’s involvement in his show, delivering bars with his signature style: “When I had no option, on my face a stocking/ Don’t worry about us knocking, we gon’ spray the locks in/ You see the camera flicker, that’s when the man is watching/ But I got O.J. popping/ N-gga, I’m Cameron Cochran.”
Switching to a “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems”-esque loop for the second part, Cam’ron continues to showcase his lyrical prowess, giving shout-outs to his podcast co-host Ma$e along the way.
Despite being over 25 years into his illustrious career, Cam’ron proves he’s still honing his craft. Last month, he kicked off 2024 and Season 3 of It Is What It Is with a braggadocious freestyle over D’Angelo’s smooth “Cruisin” beat, where he name-dropped Hip Hop luminaries and shared snippets of his journey in the industry.
The freestyle garnered praise from fellow artists and fans alike, with Tobe Nwigwe calling it “masterful” and other industry figures showing their appreciation in the comments section. Even producer Conductor Williams expressed interest in collaborating with Cam’ron in the future, inspired by his impressive display of skill.
