In anticipation of the upcoming Grammy Awards, Spotify recently hosted a party celebrating some of the most prominent breakthrough artists from the past year in music. The event drew nearly all the nominees, excluding UK garage DJ Fred Again. Among the performers were Best New Artist Nominees who presented live renditions of their breakthrough hits. Ice Spice enthralled the crowd with her latest single “Think U The Sh*t,” while Jelly Roll, accompanied by Lainey Wilson, delivered a powerful performance of their duet “Save Me.” Victoria Monet and Noah Kahan also graced the stage with renditions of their respective breakthrough songs.

Coco Jones, known for her track “ICU,” which gained significant traction last year with 41 million streams on Spotify, was also present at the event. The song spent 20 weeks on the Hot 100, peaking at number 62. However, much of the attention from fans focused on Coco’s outfit choice – a black leather top paired with a quilt-patterned skirt. Many identified the ensemble as originating from the Moschino Spring-Summer 2024 runway show. Despite its designer origins, the outfit faced criticism from fans.

Some fans expressed disapproval during Black History Month, with comments like, “Not during black history month??????” and “Fire the stylist.” Even those aware of the Moschino connection weren’t entirely impressed, with one comment stating, “I know it’s Moschino, but it gives ‘Everything from IG.'”

Following the success of “ICU,” Coco Jones collaborated with Justin Timberlake for a remix before the start of his new comeback era earlier this year. What are your thoughts on Coco Jones’ Moschino ensemble at Spotify’s Best New Artist party? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
