Alex Isabirye, the former head coach of Vipers SC, has refuted claims of his appointment by Gaddafi FC. He expressed his surprise at hearing about his supposed affiliation with the club, asserting that he has not officially joined any team.

This follows a press statement released by Gaddafi on October 26, which confidently confirmed the appointment of Alex Isabirye as their Technical Director.

In the statement, Gaddafi FC announced, “Gaddafi Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Isabirye as the Technical Director on a one-year deal.” The Jinja-based club expressed their belief that Isabirye’s wealth of experience and success in football would contribute to the achievement of the club’s goals. They further stated that he would immediately assume his role, while the rest of the coaching and technical staff would maintain their positions alongside Isabirye.

In response to the club’s announcement, Isabirye swiftly denied the news. He referred to it as “fake news” and urged people to disregard the post being shared by Gaddafi Football Club, emphasizing that he has not been officially appointed by any club and that he was taken aback by the post claiming his appointment without his consent.

Alex Isabirye is a highly respected local coach with a remarkable track record. He has secured multiple titles in his coaching career, including three league titles and four league cup titles. His most recent success was with Vipers, where he joined the team mid-season and guided them to a domestic double. Additionally, Isabirye made history five years ago by winning the inaugural FUFA Drum title with the Buganda Province Team.
