KAMPALA, UGANDA — In a powerful statement released today, His Excellency Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, clarified the stance of the National Unity Platform (NUP) regarding the #March2Parliament protests. Kyagulanyi’s declaration highlighted the NUP’s strong support for the protests while firmly stating that the initiative was not organized by the party.

Kyagulanyi’s Support for the Protests

Kyagulanyi expressed unequivocal support for the #March2Parliament protests, asserting that they align with the core principles of People Power, which emphasizes the strength and collective will of the people.

“For the record, the 23rd July #March2Parliament protests are not organized by us,” stated Kyagulanyi. “But we support them with all our might because we are People Power, and we absolutely believe in the Power of the People.”

Opposing Injustice and Corruption

Kyagulanyi reiterated the NUP’s commitment to fighting against injustice, corruption, and misrule in Uganda. He praised the efforts of young Ugandans who have come together to organize these protests, transcending boundaries of age, religion, tribe, and political affiliation.

“We support every effort to protest against injustice, corruption, and misrule,” Kyagulanyi declared, emphasizing the inclusiveness of the movement.

Addressing Regime Tactics

In his statement, Kyagulanyi addressed the regime’s attempts to mischaracterize the protests as an NUP initiative. He asserted that these efforts aim to weaken the movement by portraying it as a partisan matter, thereby undermining its legitimacy.

“The effort by the regime to clamp down and make it look like an NUP initiative is meant to weaken it because they want to make it appear like a partisan matter,” Kyagulanyi noted.
