Ice Spice is set to be honored with the prestigious Hitmaker Award at the upcoming 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards. The “Munch” emcee, known for her remarkable achievements in 2023, will be recognized for her four Top 10 hits, including collaborations with Taylor Swift on “Karma,” PinkPantheress on “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2,” and two songs with Nicki Minaj, “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World.”

Billboard’s editorial director, Hannah Karp, expressed excitement about celebrating dynamic and inspiring artists, stating, “We could not be more excited to celebrate these inspiring and dynamic artists from around the world, as they move our culture forward and inspire women everywhere to push boundaries and pursue their own dreams.” She also highlighted the significance of having Tracee Ellis Ross as the host for the awards ceremony, promising an unforgettable evening.

The Billboard Women in Music Awards will take place on Wednesday, March 6, at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The last artist to receive the Hitmaker Award was Dolly Parton in 2020.

Ice Spice recently generated controversy with her latest single, “Think U The Shit (Fart),” where she seemingly took a swipe at Latto. The ongoing exchange of subliminals between the two artists escalated on this track, where Ice Spice’s lyrics included lines like “I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up/ She all on the floor, told her get up,” interpreted as a direct reference to Latto’s hit song “Put It On Da Floor.”

This ongoing tension between Ice Spice and Latto dates back to last year when Ice Spice began shading Latto in lyrics that seemed to reference “Put It On Da Floor.” The Bronx rap star continued these references in tracks on her debut EP, including lines like “Now she all on the floor when I kick in the door” and “Where she at? On the floor/ She gettin’ money, but I’m gettin’ more.”

Latto, in turn, responded with her own verses, referencing Ice Spice’s breakout hit “Munch (Fellin’ U)” in her guest verse on Offset’s Set It Off album. The back-and-forth between the two continues to fuel speculation and discussion among fans.
