The start of 2024 has brought various twists and turns in the music world. Latto and Ice Spice are continuing their feud into the new year, trading subliminal shots online while teasing upcoming music. Lil Nas X is drawing criticism from the Christian community for incorporating God into his new music. Katt Williams stirred the internet with the shade thrown during his Club Shay Shay podcast. Meanwhile, Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, known as JPEGMAFIA, is making headlines for a dramatic shopping trip in Brazil.
In a video captured during the early hours of Wednesday (January 10), the 34-year-old rapper was seen enjoying a shopping excursion at a local mall in Brazil. Accompanied by a white woman, Hendricks, sporting short shorts and embracing the warmer weather, encountered a tense situation with store employees. The clip showed Peggy visibly upset, yelling at the employees as they retreated into the store.
While the video lacks clear context, online speculation suggests that JPEGMAFIA may have been scammed by a well-known sportswear store, resulting in a dispute over a $2,000 charge for items he supposedly didn’t purchase. Some sources suggest that Peggy called the police, and the situation was eventually resolved.
The incident hasn’t overshadowed JPEGMAFIA’s entire South American experience, as he was also spotted posing for photos with the infamous streamer iShowSpeed in the hours leading up to the shopping altercation. The collaboration between these two figures in the entertainment world has sparked interest among fans.
As JPEGMAFIA’s time in South America unfolds, it remains to be seen how the dramatic shopping trip will impact his stay and whether there will be further updates on the situation. Stay tuned for more pop culture and music news updates.
