In recent weeks, Lil Nas X has stirred controversy by embracing his “Christian era,” teasing a new single titled “J Christ,” and incorporating religious imagery into his social media presence. The artist, known for his previous exploration of satanic themes in “Montero” and the controversial “Satan” shoes, claimed that the music industry influenced him to become “satanic,” leading to a shift in his creative direction.
The announcement of Lil Nas X’s “return to God” has not been well-received, with critics accusing him of mocking Christianity through his upcoming music and online posts. Despite the backlash, Lil Nas X defended his new artistic direction, revealing that he is actively working on a gospel album. He expressed confusion about the perception that he is mocking Christianity, emphasizing his commitment to the upcoming gospel project.
However, not everyone is convinced by Lil Nas X’s explanation. Streamer Kai Cenat, during a recent stream, expressed strong disapproval of the artist’s pivot, declaring his dislike for Lil Nas X and accusing him of disrespecting God and religion. Cenat went on to predict divine consequences, stating, “God gonna handle you.”
As Lil Nas X navigates this new phase in his career, reactions from both supporters and critics continue to shape the narrative around his artistic choices.
