Following Katt Williams’ recent controversial comments on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Mike Epps is advocating for unity among comedians, particularly those involved in the iconic “Friday” film series. Williams raised concerns about alleged pay disparities among the cast, prompting Epps to suggest a new “Friday” film as a solution to end the drama.
Epps took to Instagram, sharing a photo of himself with Ice Cube and Terry Crews, stating, “We all need another FRIDAY put everybody in the movie, all of us. May the best win on screen, forget all the internet sh*t, forget the money, forget the status, forget Hollywood. Let’s go, big bro @icecube, make history.” The post received widespread support from celebrities, including Killer Mike, Key Glock, and Tracy McGrady.
Ice Cube has previously expressed interest in making another “Friday” film but faced challenges with Warner Bros., citing a lack of belief in the cultural impact. Cube revealed he had written two scripts, but the studio rejected both. Despite facing setbacks and the unfortunate passing of key cast members like John Witherspoon and Deebo (Tommy Lister Jr.), Cube remains hopeful about the project.
In response to Katt Williams’ comments, Ice Cube addressed the issues in a comprehensive video on social media, clarifying several “discrepancies.” Mike Epps’ call for a new “Friday” movie aligns with his desire to bring comedians together, putting aside differences for a shared cinematic experience.
