Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Surpasses One Million Sales, Earns Platinum Certification

Nicki Minaj expressed gratitude to her loyal fan base, the Barbz, as Pink Friday 2 continues to make history by selling over a million units and becoming eligible for platinum certification. The rapper shared a heartfelt note on Instagram on Sunday (January 14), acknowledging the achievement and recognizing the collective effort that contributed to the success of PF2.

In her post, Minaj thanked her fans, whom she considers the greatest, along with Republic Records, featured artists, producers, radio stations, DJs, interviewers, and everyone involved in the music. She also gave a shoutout to her fan base, the Barbz, calling them the “greatest fan base of all time.”

Chart Data reported that Pink Friday 2 crossed the million-unit sales mark in the U.S. on Sunday, making all of Nicki Minaj’s albums achieve at least one million units in sales. The album is currently holding the No. 4 spot on the Billboard 200 after debuting at No. 1 in December.

Last week, Minaj’s latest album set another record by becoming the fastest album by a female rapper to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. This accomplishment also makes Nicki the first female rapper in history to have five albums surpassing one billion streams on the platform, including Pink Friday, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, The Pinkprint, and Queen.

Pink Friday 2 also made waves on the Billboard Hot 100 last month, with 17 of its 22 songs landing on the chart, setting a new record for the most songs from any album by a female rapper.

To add to the album’s success, Nicki Minaj released another collaboration with Future over the weekend, titled “Press Play,” produced by ATL Jacob. This track follows their previous collaboration on the album, “Nicki Hendrix,” further enhancing the appeal of Pink Friday 2.
