The National Unity Platform (NUP) inaugurated its new party headquarters in Makerere Kavule on November 3rd, 2023, a day after initial plans, as police initially blocked their efforts the day before. This official unveiling also revealed the party’s proposed plans for their former offices in Kamwokya.

Bobi Wine, known as Robert Kyagulanyi and the party principal, announced the establishment of the National Unity Platform Leadership School. This initiative aims to equip youth from the ghetto with leadership skills, granting certificates upon course completion.

The event, attended by opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye and dignitaries including Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and activist Miria Matembe, witnessed Kyagulanyi clarifying that all construction funds for the new headquarters were sourced from the party’s parliamentary allocations, emphasizing that no public solicitation occurred. Kyagulanyi assured that the land titles are in the party’s name and belong to its members.

Expressing his admiration for Besigye, Kyagulanyi referred to him as his president since he elected him in 2016. He pledged to inspire more youths to continue the fight for democracy beyond his leadership.

The new NUP headquarters encompasses the principal’s office and a space dedicated to higher education institutions. Plans to establish a recording studio on the premises are currently underway.

However, Kyagulanyi acknowledged that the initially proposed architectural design was unfeasible due to high costs. Therefore, the party opted to repurpose and refurbish existing structures on the property they had acquired, rather than construct an entirely new building as previously unveiled.
