Canadian superstar Drake has made a significant $1.15 million wager on the Kansas City Chiefs to emerge victorious in the upcoming Super Bowl matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Known for his occasional “cursing” of sports teams due to his public support, Drake revealed his hefty bet in favor of the Chiefs, citing his allegiance to the “swifties” — fans of pop sensation Taylor Swift, who is in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and will be attending the game.

“I can’t bet against the swifties,” Drake shared alongside a screenshot of his betting slip, showing the Chiefs as slight underdogs.

Drake placed his bet on Stake, a betting platform in which he is an investor, allowing users to back their wagers with cryptocurrency. Should the Kansas City team secure the win, Drake stands to collect over $2 million.

While Drake’s track record in high-profile sports betting has been mixed, he has had relative success in NFL predictions. He accurately forecasted the outcomes of the last two Super Bowls, wagering $700,000 on the Chiefs to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles last year and $472,000 the year before when the Los Angeles Rams emerged victorious over the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, Drake has faced disappointment in other sporting events. Notably, he recently placed a $700,000 bet on Sean Strickland to win in the main event of UFC 297, but Strickland lost to Dricus Du Plessis via unanimous decision. Similarly, he supported Conor McGregor in his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, only to witness McGregor’s defeat.

In the boxing arena, Drake’s luck was no better. He wagered $1.2 million on Jake Paul to win by knockout against Tommy Fury, but Paul lost to Fury by split decision, despite Drake’s support.

Drake’s association with sports has sometimes led to speculation about a “curse,” particularly after Serena Williams lost in the semi-finals of the 2015 US Open while he was in attendance. To mitigate the perceived curse, Drake has occasionally taken unconventional measures, such as sporting a Philadelphia 76ers shirt in 2019, despite being a Toronto Raptors fan. This move coincided with the Raptors’ success in the playoffs, ultimately leading to their NBA Championship victory over the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.
