Jeezy has taken legal action in the midst of his divorce proceedings with TV presenter Jeannie Mai, alleging that she is engaging in “gatekeeping” behavior regarding their two-year-old daughter.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the Atlanta rapper filed a motion requesting a custody hearing for their infant child, who is set to turn two in January.

Jeezy, who initiated the divorce process in September, claims that the child has been residing with Mai in their former Los Angeles home since that time.

“While the parties have agreed upon a visitation schedule through the end of 2023, which has been confirmed via communications between their counsel, to continue addressing custodial and parenting time issues in such an ad hoc manner is becoming increasingly less feasible,” the legal documents state.

Jeezy contends that the lack of consistency and stability associated with the informal parenting schedule is becoming stressful for their daughter. He also argues that this situation is leading to unnecessary tension and confusion in co-parenting the one-year-old.

The rapper emphasizes in the filing that he does not believe Mai is acting maliciously but accuses her of acting as a “gatekeeper” in managing their child’s time.

The purpose of the filing is to “define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the child.”

In Jeezy’s initial divorce filing, he cited the marriage as “irrevocably broken” and requested joint custody of their daughter. While the specific reasons for their split have not been disclosed, Jeezy mentioned that they attempted couple’s therapy.

In a statement announcing his decision to file for divorce, Jeezy expressed respect and love for Jeannie, stating, “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart.” He emphasized his commitment to ensuring their daughter experiences the love and stability she deserves and requested privacy for their family during this healing period.

Jeezy’s marriage to Jeannie Mai, which took place in March 2021, marked his first marriage, and he has three other children from previous relationships.
