Will Smith Proudly Celebrates Willow Smith as She Hits One Billion Streams on Spotify

Will Smith is beaming with pride as he celebrates his daughter, Willow Smith, for achieving a remarkable milestone in her music career. Willow has become the first member of the musical family to reach one billion streams on Spotify.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (February 7), Will shared a screenshot displaying the impressive numbers for Willow’s song “…Wait a Minute!” He wrote in the caption, “@willowsmith is the first person in the family to have a song with a BILLION streams!!”

The track, released in 2015 as the second single off her debut album, Ardipithecus, has garnered massive popularity over the years.

Responding to a fan’s inquiry about his own hit song “Summertime,” Will revealed that it hasn’t reached the billion-stream mark. Meanwhile, his son Jaden Smith’s collaboration “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life) (Remix)” with Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin is inching close to one billion streams with over 939 million streams on Spotify.

This achievement adds to Willow Smith’s list of groundbreaking moments in her music career. In 2023, she made history by becoming the first artist ever to receive an NFT plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The plaque commemorated Willow’s songs, including her breakout single “Whip My Hair,” which went triple platinum, and tracks like “Wait A Minute!” and “Meet Me At Our Spot,” which went double platinum. Additionally, her song “Transparent Soul” featuring Travis Barker earned platinum status. The plaque’s artwork, commissioned by Willow herself in collaboration with her label, Roc Nation, and Infinite Objects, captures the essence of her achievements.

Expressing her gratitude, Willow said in a press release last year, “I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to engage in the sacred process that is music. BIG LOVE to RIAA and Infinite Objects! I am so honored to be able to celebrate these milestones in such an innovative way.”

Will Smith has been a supportive father throughout Willow’s musical journey. Just one month before the NFT plaque, he shared footage of Willow’s Coachella performance on Instagram, expressing his joy and pride as he watched her perform. Willow and her brother Jaden also took the stage together during the show, delivering a memorable performance of their collaboration “Summertime in Paris.” In another Instagram post, Will couldn’t contain his emotions, writing, ”I can’t stop crying” as he reflected on Willow’s performance.
